Andy Carter MP for Warrington south welcomed Will Blackburn, a dairy farmer from Lymm to Downing Street, to meet the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Steve Barclay MP, to say thank you for the work that he, his family and his farming colleagues do to keep us all fed, supplying milk for cheese, butter, yoghurts and of course for tea and coffee!
Our region is home to 25% of England’s dairy herds with more than 480,000 cows - that’s 1500 dairy farms creating local jobs and turning over £715m annually.
This Conservative government will always listen to the concerns of our rural and communities and is committed to working with them to help them thrive while ensuring we have food security and also protecting and enhancing our treasured countryside for the benefit of generations to come.
