It was really great to look round the new Living Well Hub which was officially opened today ahead of opening to the public next Wednesday. The hub is funded by the Government’s Town Deal and is designed to help residents live happily, healthily and independently for longer.
Based on Horsemarket Street in the town centre, is one of the first of its kind in the country and a true collaboration, with 25 organisations and more than 350 staff set to provide a wide range of NHS and non-clinical services.
There will be a particular emphasis on:
* women’s health services
* services for children and families
* support for older people
Service will include:
* maternity (pre and post natal)
* dementia
* mental health
* weight management
* cardiac rehab
* health visitor clinics
Earlier in the week Andy was pleased to be able to show Minister of State Jo Churchill around the new facility. In addition to NHS services there’s also provision of local council, DWP and charities all under one roof.
