In Parliament this week I praised the action of Cheshire Police who’ve seen a significant increase in arrests, charge and summons activity meaning the force now is the 2nd highest rate in England and Wales.
I asked the Home Secretary what work the Government are doing to focus attention on cyber crime. Almost half of those questioned in a recent survey by Ofcom (46%) said they had been personally drawn in by an online scam, while two in five (39%) knew someone else who had fallen victim.
Online fraud wrecks lives but is often seen as a hidden crime so I’m pleased to hear more about the work being done by the National Fraud Squad to target cyber scams across the UK.
