Back in January Warrington was one of 29 hospitals to receive a new mobile and a new static breast screening unit, after the government pledged an additional £10 million to provide new NHS breast cancer screening units.
6 months on and the mammography unit has been relocated to Bath Street Medical Centre and the new equipment is in place and working, allowing more women to be screened earlier, improving outcomes for patients.
It was a real pleasure to talk to Muni who is one of the radiologists who works at the centre, where the team meet around 50 ladies a day and offer advice and support on looking after your health.
Quite a few constituents have contacted me about supporting a debate in Parliament guaranteeing women’s access to breast screening. The NHS Breast Screening Programme invites all women from the age of 50 to 70 registered with a GP for screening every 3 years. When you receive an invitation don’t put it off, come and meet some real lifesavers.
