Two years ago I met with Ms Langstaff the Head Teacher at Cardinal Newman High School who talked to me about the need to replace their artificial pitch which had become unusable due to flooding damage.
I’m really pleased to see that thanks to support from Government, through the Town Deal and the Football Foundation which manages funds for DCMS, there’s now a brand new £1.2million pitch installed - which is not only being used by the school but also the wider community, with amateur and junior teams using it at the weekend.
Great to also catch up with Mr McKean, Cardinal Newman’s Head of PE to hear about the sporting success, with many students playing to a high standard and some giving on to represent the area and even the country in recent years.
