On Monday, Warrington South Andy Carter MP welcomed Dave Thompson, Chief Executive of the Warrington Disability Partnership, to a reception at 10 Downing Street to celebrate community charity champions from across the UK.
In 1992 Dave founded Disability Awareness Day which is managed by the Warrington Disability Partnership, the charity Dave founded in 1991. It now welcomes more than 25,000 visitors each year and is replicated in charities around the world.
Andy Carter MP said: "There are few people who work harder to champion the rights of disabled people than Dave. That's why I was delighted to invite him and his son Gavin to join me at a special reception in 10 Downing Street this evening to celebrate their achievements, and to say a big thank you on behalf of everyone they've helped in Warrington South.
"My congratulations to Dave for his tireless work and campaigning which has had such a positive impact on on so many people in Warrington and around the world. He's a fantastic community champion and an inspiration to so many others."
