This week hundreds of care homes and care facilities across the UK opened their doors to local communities to give a glimpse of the vital work they do to support thousands of people on a daily basis.
Care Home Open Week, an annual programme delivered by the cross-sector Championing Social Care charitable initiative, aims to showcase the facilities, activities and services care homes and other care settings can offer. It also promotes the career opportunities available and seeks to encourage greater community engagement and volunteering.
Warrington South’s Member of Parliament, Andy Carter, marked Care Home Open Week with a visit to the Three Bridges Nursing Home in Latchford where he met with the Registered Home Manager, Jamie Ashton, and other management and nursing staff. The MP got to see first-hand the efforts the staff make to help their residents feel welcome and settled, whilst involving the residents’ families and their doctors at every stage throughout their time at the Home.
Following his visit, Andy Carter MP commented: “It was a real pleasure to meet the management, staff and residents at Three Bridges Nursing Home where I had such a warm welcome. Staff really do really go out of their way to care for the residents with lovely gardens where vegetables are grown and even a song or two for those who want to join in.
“The nursing staff at Three Bridges work alongside the local GPs to make sure the care provided is tailored to each resident and I want to thank them for their incredible dedication to meeting the needs of the people they care for.”
