The tradition of Bawming the Thorn has been part of village life in Appleton Thorn for hundreds of years - a Thorn tree has stood in the centre of the village since the Middle Ages.
Children from the local primary school process through the village, led by a marching band to decorate the Thorn Tree.
It’s lovely to see so many residents coming out to be part of this important tradition and I’m really pleased I could congratulate the children for their excellent performance today after they were awarded medals.
