Every family affected by dementia will know that the impact extends well beyond the person diagnosed, with profound changes needed in terms of long term personal care, interaction with family and friends as well as risk from other diseases too.
I’m pleased that the Prime Minister committed in the Queens speech to fix the social care system, as well as funding for research into the disease, making the best use of AI and technology must continue to be a priority so that we can find a cure for this condition which affects too many people.
During dementia awareness week I also want to thank both paid and unpaid carers who work tirelessly to support anyone impacted, I’ve been fortunate to meet several voluntary groups in Warrington South who provide invaluable friendship and advice. Anyone wanting advice can also contact the Alzheimer’s Society by calling 0330 333 0804 or visiting alzheimers.org.uk.
