🚒 A really interesting visit to see North West Fire Control on Lingley Mere in Great Sankey who receive all 999 calls for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service.
With a team of around 50 staff in total, Fire Control is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Calls are on average answered within 5 seconds with fire crews despatched in less than 90 seconds. Each region has a team of call handlers who know the areas well.
NWFC are responsible for mobilising fire engines and resources to incidents, liaising with the incident ground crew and recording important details. They are currently recruiting for Control Room Operators to start September 2023. More details here: https://www.nwfirecontrol.com/vacancies/
