Andy Carter MP met with the hardworking committee at Cromwell Athletic earlier this week that around 70% of their grass games have had to be cancelled this season, disappointing youngsters who want to be active, out in the fresh air, playing sport rather than in front of a screen on their PlayStation!
It’s doubly frustrating because funding is available from the Football Foundation to improve grass pitches but we need the Council to step up and support the volunteers who run the clubs with action to improve drainage and secure more all weather playing surfaces. This isn’t just an issue at Mary Ann Meadows, the same is true of playing fields in LymmC Grappenhall, Appleton, Great Sankey and Penketh.
