Earlier in the year I took part in Papyrus’ annual hopewalk, raising funds for the Warrington based, UK wide charity so it was good to catch up with Lisa Rigby to hear more about their work.
Papyrus provide confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide, and anyone worried about a young person through their helpline, HOPELINE247. Our region has the second highest level of suicide in young people in the UK and sadly we’ve seen 4 deaths in Warrington in the last few months.
They also run programmes to engage communities and volunteers in suicide prevention projects and deliver training programmes to individuals and groups. This includes equipping local councils, healthcare professionals and school staff with suicide prevention skills.
New Year can be a difficult time, so if you are concerned for a young person who might be considering suicide you can reach out to HOPELINE247 (24 hours a day) on 0800 068 4141.💜
