Recently Andy Carter MP for Warrington South met with Liam from the Football Foundation, who administer funding and support for the Government into community football and Stewart from Livewire who operate the Borough Council’s sports facilities. Andy Carter MP discussed plans for future investment with them including New Lane at Appleton Thorn, Grappenhall Sports Club, Mary Ann Meadows in Westbrook and provision in Lymm.
Andy Carter MP highlighted that
The benefits of sport stretch far beyond the enjoyment people get from playing a game. Regardless of gender, race, disability or place, sport can have a transformative impact on people’s physical health, mental wellbeing, academic attainment of young people and community cohesion and I’m keen to see investment for football, RFU, RFL and hockey.
We currently have a shortage of playing pitches in Warrington and we estimate we need another 8 all weather 3G pitches across the town to accommodate demand. You can read more about the plans here: https://localplans.footballfoundation.org.uk/.../warr.../...
