In Parliament this week Andy Carter Warrington South MP scrutinised new legislation to reform the leasehold system in England and Wales
He raised his concerns on many occasions in the House of Commons about the mis-selling of Leasehold on Steinbeck Grange in Chapelford. And called on the Government to introduce new legislation to prevent this type of abuse happening again. He's pleased to see this finally happening.
Today the Bill Committee took oral evidence from many experts and interested parties including Directors from the Competition and Markets Authority who interviewed leaseholders in Chapelford and looked into their mis-selling cases.
He said that:
I want to see redress for those homeowners who thought they were buying a freehold home and will continue to help constituents to pursue remedies. The new Bill will address some concerns but there’s more still to do.
